Bao Nai Liu (Wang), 92, of Moscow, died unexpectedly at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, Virginia while vacationing.
Bao Nai was born in Tian Jin, China and resided with her daughter Kathy in Roaring Brook Township in recent years. She was preceded in death by her husband and classmate Professor Lian He Wang for whom she was his longtime caregiver in China.
Surviving family include a son, Tie Hong Wang, of Beijing China; and a daughter, Kathy Wang, and son-in-law, Greg Dolhy, of Moscow. Also survived by a sister, Bao Ping, of Los Angeles CA; and brother, Bao Tian, of Beijing. Bao Nai was blessed with several grandchildren and a recent great-granddaughter.
Bao Nai achieved her Doctorate in the Earth Sciences from Hua Dong University, Shanghai China. There she taught students in the Natural Sciences, led several research programs and authored academic texts. This was all at a time and in a culture when it was quite rare for a woman to succeed to this high level of education and career. Following retirement, she enjoyed choral singing, fashion design/modeling, sewing, and especially loved caring for her flower garden. She also enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for her special handmade dumplings.
Growing up, Bao Nai enjoyed a very beautiful life as a youth in Old China and then after 1949, experienced the dramatic political changes throughout her adult years during the New China era. She further lived to see her countryʼs renewal as it entered the 21st century. Throughout all of this upheaval, she remained a person of great integrity. Peaceful, optimistic and always most kind to others. Coming to live with her daughter in the United States, Bao Nai brought her unique positive nature. Here she made many new friends and touched the hearts of all those she knew.
A memorial gathering for friends and acquaintances will be held Saturday November 3 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Semian Funeral, 704 Union St., Taylor PA
